Dollhouse Makeover - The last of the last

Dollhouse Makeover - The last of the last

The Bathroom

What I used:

Small container from Crazy Store

Large craft sticks

Scrapbook paper

Modge

Towel roll

Paper straws

Cut off fabric and towel pieces

Old barbie furniture

Wall hooks from Pep Home

Perfume bottle top

Toothpicks

Gold paint

Again, the floor of the bathroom was tiled a long time ago, so I just left it as it was since it still looked pretty neat and decent. This time, I didn't modge a whole paper to the wall, but simply cut a strip of the pattern from the paper and stuck it all around the sides and the back of the wall.

Moving on to the bathtub. I got this really neat rectangular container from the crazy store, which is the perfect size for a Barbie to sit in comfortably. I cut the large craft sticks into smaller pieces and glued them all around the container.

My daughter had some older furniture that she originally got with the dollhouse. I removed the toilet and the basin from the wooden backing so they could be more simplistic, as you can see from the photo below.
I removed the little doors from one of the wooden cupboards and painted the whole thing white. I then placed some cut off towel pieces inside to make it look like a little bathroom storage shelf.

Cutting towel roll into strips, I glued and rolled these around toothpicks and created some very cute looking toilet paper rolls. I used paper straws to make towel racks and hung some cut off towel pieces over them.

As with the other rooms, I glued a piece of cut off curtain and a craft stick to the top of the window.

Using another piece of cut off fabric, I cut another smaller rug to place in front of the tub.

I found some random gold paint in our craft box stash and used it to paint one of my old perfume bottle caps. After it dried, I securely glued it to the roof to serve as a beautiful light shade.

Lastly, I bought some fish wall hooks from a random store I found in our mall. I simply broke off the hooks and stuck the fish to the back wall for decor.

The Bedroom

What I used:

Old Barbie furniture
Grey paint
Cut off pieces of fabric
Cardboard
Dish drying mat from Pep Home
Craft sticks
Christmas bell
Magnets from Pep Home
Cell phone stand
Scrapbook paper
Modge

As you can clearly see by now, I have a bit of an addiction when it comes to modging things and buying things from Pep Home. As with the other rooms, I modged a scrapbook paper to the back wall of the room as a feature wall.

I found a really nice dish drying mat from Pep Home, which I cut to size and ended up using as a carpet for the bedroom.

Using a wooden bed that we already had, I simply painted it grey and made a mattress from cut off fabric and the stuffing from an old pillow.

I then used some of the other fabric pieces to make some bedding and pillows for the bed, creating a cozy looking place for Miss Barbie to have her beauty sleep.

I used some of the other furniture pieces we had and painted them white, making a bookshelf and a side table. I used the cut off pieces from the patio (I cut them off the sides when I started the remodel) and glued it to the wall to create a desk.

Remember that random shop I found in out mall? Well, I found another little treasure there, in the shape of a purple chair cellphone stand, which works perfectly as a chair for the desk. To round it off, I made a laptop from a piece of cardboard and printed a keyboard which I stuck to it.

Again, I glued a piece of fabric and a craft stick over the window as a curtain and tied it back with some ribbon I had.

Who said Christmas bells are just for decorating trees? Well, I found another use for one of ours. I bent the bell open and took the little ball out, painted it grey and hung it from the roof for a light.

Lastly I took the magnets I got from Pep Home and stuck them to the back wall for some elegant wall decor.

The patio

What I used:

Craft sticks

Cut off piece of artificial grass

Cell phone stand

And for the grand finale - the patio.

As you will remember from the previous posts, I made the patio of the dollhouse larger right at the beginning by moving the top room to the side. Now I was able to fit some actual patio furniture on the outside.

I simply cut some craft sticks in half and painted them white. I stuck the along the side of the patio, making it look like a picket fence.

I had some leftover artificial grass from a previous project, which I placed on the patio.

Lastly, I placed the furniture my daughter already had, with some more of those cellphone stand chairs, and viola - a beautiful patio where Barbie can relax.

I hope this feature on remodeling a dollhouse will inspire you to perhaps take on your own project. I know that projects like these might look daunting, but in all honesty, event though there might be some parts that are tricky, it is absolutely worth it.

I have no prior experience or training in doing any of these things. All I did was to simply follow my gut and watch some YouTube tutorials when I hit a snag.

If I can do it, you can to.
